WORDS:
the indigenous mouth is colonised by a new speech,
do not ask oceans to cross borders for old words.
at the periphery, language is under siege.
her shudders roar like a legion of hummingbirds.
in agony her pain reverbs into a stolen screech
watch it weep in its etymology it shares one-third
of reading, writing and speaking to be heard.
absorbing our pace like the sucking of a leech.
this revolution on phonetics we will not impeach
watch the massacre as its dominion comes
under the guise of unity it begins its outreach.
we will be immersed with our mother tongue.
carry phonetics but hold Ebonics under siege.
we choose not to comprehend what you teach.
