we, the wildflower women

WORDS:
she was a valiant seed;
but in those days;
father knew seeds
were nonentities.
so, he couldn’t afford
to nurture a kernel
known for fragility.
he held the belief that
seeds bare seeds
who then bore seeds.
and in due course
his fragile seed
will follow suit.

she was a blossoming bud
but in those days
mother knew seeds
were useful.
not too complacent
to nurture this kernel seeds
who become so invaluable
and in due course
her buoyant seed
became the bud
that changed history.

lineages of wildflowers
and origins well-drained
from a long line of fertile soil
yet circumstances
loom and weave stalks
and we are left to untangle
pain.
we, the women of wildflowers.

we are inklings
dispersion
submersion
emergence
we bud like seeds
but before some of us, emerge,
we are discarded as weeds.
