golden years

i.

a thousand doves search for an olive leaf.
and piece by piece, they brought the tree.
but all we saw was sticks and twigs.
they kept adding despite our unbelief.

ii.

a hundred grains searched for wholesome land
and years of famine spread and grew
but all we saw was the need for food.
the grains had tenacity for other use.

iii.

a search of ten days was decreed
and minutes went on what we besieged
but all we had was angered voice.
which silenced the very thing we all sought.

iv.

a single minute to reflect on this
and the seconds stole the treasured bliss.
but all we gave was silence stares.
how could we buy back the golden years?
